Burak Uckun is a Turkish composer and songwriter, as well as a business professional. He graduated as a civil engineer (Eastern Mediterranean University, North Cyprus) in 1995. He was the lead vokal and guitarist of his group Jazz Mania in North Cyprus, which reached a performance of 200 concerts/year. After graduation, he returned to Turkey and worked as a Civil Engineer in a construction company in Izmir as a "Site Chief Assistant Manager and Site Chief for 3 years, then moved to Istanbul and he continued his music career in Turkey.While he continued his masters education (Finance) in Istanbul University, he performed in many venues in Istanbul as a lead singer. He had a voice training from Prof. Dr. Mufit Bayrasa, the president of Istanbul University Conservatory and a famous composer and voice trainer. Burak had taken part in a musical (Cahide Musical) in Istanbul which reached 100 shows, as a singer. He was requested to sing one of the songs in the famous Turkish composer Selmi Andaks 60th art year aniversary. Burak was sellected to be one of the singers in this album named "Bir Sevgi Yeter" besides the top singers of Turkey like Sezen Aksu, Zerrin Ozer, Ozdemir Erdogan. He was the only singer honored in this special album album who did not have a solo album released yet at that time. He was requested by the composer to take part in this project because he was noticed and admired by Selmi Andak in one of the song contests he attended. His first album experience was with a rock group project (DESTAN). He participated in the group with his compositions and as a guitar player. (a Rock Band project.) This album was released in 1999 and sold arround 500.000 copies. After this first experience, he quit the group and produced an album with his own compsitions to share his own music with the audience. In 2000, Burak signed a 3 years contract with Kiss Music, one of the strongest music companies in Turkey which belonged to ATV-SABAH Group, which was the owner of 2 TV channels (Atv and a music tv station called Kiss TV) and also owner of some magazines including Aktuel magazine and Sabah newspaper. After one week the album was launched, unluckily the group fell into economic trouble due to certain previous transactions regarding tax issues and the government had blocked the finance system of the company. The financial impossibilities by that time, led Kiss Music to publish and release only 3000 copies of the album for a start. However the company was forced to stop its activity and had closed due to legal reasons a short while after Burak's first solo album released. All 3000 copies were sold in a short time without any promotion activity and the album is not available on the market at the moment because the music branch of the group had stopped its activity after the intervention.He produced another solo album in 2004 (Sonsuza Kadar). The Mixing and Mastering of the album was made in Switzerland by Bernie Staub who is the owner of Avalon Music Switzerland and a world famous tonmeister who also made mixings, masterings and arrangements for a lot of world famous productions like Tina Turner, Janet Jackson, Backstreet Boys, N-SYNC, Jose Carreras, Nena, The Harlem Voices, Bonnie Tyler, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The famous string ensemble "G-Strings" had performed in two songs for Burak's album. Some examples of G-Strings' live and studio partners include: Chaka Khan, Ray Charles, Bobby Mc Ferrin, Randy Crawford, Gloria Estefan, Jon Lord (Deep Purple), Josè Carreras.Most of the arrangements were made by Burak Uckun and Walter Schirnik (from Germany) together, as well as the famous music director Selim Çaldıran. Walter Shirnik is a famous musician from Germany, who was accepted to Franz Liszt Conservatory Weimar with a scholarship and graduated from the conservatory with titles of piyanist and orchestra chief. Walter's single released in Germany (Let It Rain) with a two people group named "in2deep" had remained in the 1 st place in the German Music Charts for weeks. He is the music director of various musicals. He is also the composer of the theme music of the rewarded cinema movie Vacuum (year 2004-Germany). Walter has compositions and arrangements in many pop music and rock projects in Germany and is the owner of the Studio HitBay in Germany. A short while after this conscientiously produced album was released, the music company which Burak have had signed with had stopped its activities unluckily like the previous one and the second solo album as well had reached to only a small amount of fans just like the previous solo album. However Burak's music was awarded with 12 different prizes in various national and international song contests and apreciated by the loyal fans. After he decided not to release solo albums any more, his experiences in the music industry and song contests leaded him to develop an internet project which was dedicated to help amateur composers and musicians on their music journey. He is the founder, owner and project manager of webeste.com internet project, which is an "Online Music Contest And Music Themed Social Network Platform" since 2007. After he had stopped his music activities, he involved in international business related to "real estate, educational services, inovative internet projects, international trade and consultancy services" in Istanbul/Turkey. Curently he is the managing partner of Moreplus Group (www.moreplus.com.tr), which is an international joint venture, trade and consultancy company. He is also the business development manager of the EFINST Language Schools (www.efdilokulu.com), located in Istanbul, which is also the Master Franchisor of the "Helen Doron Early English", located in over 30 countries with over 680 franchisees. Burak has many medals in swimming, snow skiing and basketball. His hobies are motorbike riding and photography. Was awarded in many national and international song contests.
